Annual Meeting of Presidents and Magistrates of Courts, Courts and Constitutional Chambers of Latin America

The meeting is hosted by a different Constitutional Court and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Foundation from Germany each year. It consists of various seminars for magistrates and judges from Constitutional Courts, where they can have an open discussion in a climate of confidence. On several occasions, special guests have participated in the seminars, such as judges form the Inter-American Court of Human Rights or renowned academics, who analyze current issues on constitutional justice. These meetings have taken place since 1993 in various cities of Latin America.

Representatives of the Mexican Supreme Court of Justice have had an active participation in these meetings, sharing their experiences and engaging in relevant discussions on legal and constitutional topics of great value from a comparative perspective. The Mexican Supreme Court of Justice has hosted two out of the twenty-three meetings, one in September 2006 (in the city of Cuernavaca, Morelos), and another in June (in Mexico City). Mexico´s last participation was during the XXIII Edition in Brasilia, Brazil, during the 1st and 3rd of June 2017. During this meeting, the following issues were discussed: modern slavery; judicial ethics and good practices in judicial administration; the role of constitutional tribunals in the fight against corruption, and fundamental rights, constitutions, and the economy.
